Alpine Meadows

Alpine Meadows is the original local’s neighborhood.  Homes start at $600k to $700k for older cabins  while at the top end there are spectacular view chalets, complete with elevators, for $3m to $4m.  Alpine Meadows offers many different views of the Whistler Valley as well as immediate access to the scenic Valley Trail.  Located three kilometers north of Whistler Village, Alpine’s amenities include the Meadow Park Sports Centre with a swimming pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room, skating rink, squash courts, tennis courts, modern fitness facilities as well as an outdoor green space and water park for children.  Alpine homes are conveniently located near the secondary school, a small café, and a grocery store.

Alta Vista

Alta Vista enjoys a great location, situated halfway between Whistler Village and Whistler Creek and with close proximity to Alta Lake.  Summer days can be spent relaxing in Lakeside Park or sailing on Alta Lake.  There has been a significant amount of building activity in the last few years as Alta Vista has been “discovered” and some of the older chalets have been replaced or renovated.  This area also provides opportunities for lake front living, although that comes at a price!  In addition, there are excellent townhome opportunities in the complexes on Hillcrest Drive.

Bayshores is a tranquil community, located just one minute south of Whistler Creek. Homes here boast park space, tennis courts, access to the Valley Trail and close proximity to not just one, but several lakes.  Bayshores is conveniently located a short distance from Creekside Gondola, allowing residents access to ski lifts without having to go through the main village.  At the top of Cheakamus Way, the streets around Millar’s Pond are popular with families.  From here, the elementary school in Spring Creek is a 20 minute stroll along the Valley Trail.  Bayshores offers a good mix of townhomes, duplexes and chalets at a wide range of price points.

Blackcomb Benchlands

Also called the Upper Village, this is Blackcomb's counterpart to Whistler Village.  Some of the most prestigious hotels in Whistler are located here, including the Four Seasons and Chateau Whistler.  This is a very convenient location for accessing skiing in the winter and golf and bike trails in the summer.  From Spearhead Drive you can find a wide array of condo and townhome complexes, many of which offer ski-in / ski-out access.  These include The Aspens, Woodrun, Greystone, Stoneridge, Painted Cliff and Mountain Star.  Other complexes require just a few minutes' walk to access skiing or the use of the free shuttle bus back to Blackcomb base.  These include Alpine Greens, Foxglove, Snowberry, Forest Trails, Blackcomb Greens, The Woods, Lost Lake Lodge, Treeline and more.  Finally, Horstman Lane offers some of the most luxurious and conveniently located chalets in Whistler.

Blueberry Hill

Blueberry Hill has long been, and remains, one of the most prestigious addresses in Whistler.  Positioned above the Whistler Golf Course, the luxuriously appointed chalets on Peak Drive and Blueberry Drive feature spectacular views of Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains and fabulous sun exposure. 

At lower price points there are an excellent range of townhomes available, again often featuring great views.  Some of the largest condos in Whistler are available at reasonable prices in Ravencrest and Greyhawk.

Brio’s close proximity to Whistler Village makes it a local’s favorite.  Just on the outskirts of town, south of the village and across the highway from the Whistler Golf Course, residents can enjoy the convenient location with a five-minute walk into town via the Valley Trail.  Homes range from chalet and duplexes built in the 1970s to the spectacular custom residences at Sunridge Plateau. Getting back to your Whistler luxury home after a day of skiing has never been so easy!

Cheakamus Crossing

Cheakamus Crossing is a brand new, fully self-contained resident community which housed hundreds of athletes from around the world during the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.  Designed with sustainability and community in mind, the neighbourhood provides affordable, high-quality housing for Whistler’s workforce.  In the summer of 2010, hundreds of local families began moving into their newly re-fitted townhomes and condos and to take advantage of the on-site recreational and commercial conveniences.

Emerald Estates

Emerald Estates is the furthest north of the neighborhoods, located four kilometers north of Whistler Village just past Alpine Meadows.  Quiet and out of the way, it overlooks Green Lake with spectacular views of Wedge Mountain and Armchair Glacier. Divided into two areas by Highway 99, Emerald offers both lakefront and mountainside chalets, as well as access to the Valley Trail all year long.  Chalets range from $600k to $700k for older cabins up to $2m to $3m for spectacular custom built residences.

Function Junction

Function Junction is known primarily as Whistler’s industrial centre and offers a range of local businesses. These include building supplies, automotive, and storage facilities as well as cafes, galleries and specialty shops.

Green Lake Estates / Nicklaus North

This neighbourhood is positioned around the famed Nicklaus North Golf Course, and is also known as Nicklaus North.  This neighbourhood offers a private and peaceful setting, flat lots and good sun exposure.  Homes are a mixture of multi-million dollar chalets located next to the various fairways, as well as some lower priced chalets in the $1m to $2m range.  Good-sized townhomes are located in Englewood Greens and just past the clubhouse there are the spectacular Goldenwood townhomes.  Condos can be found on the two levels above the Nicklaus North Clubhouse.

Located high above Bayshores is Kadenwood, one of Whistler’s most prestigious developments, offering spectacular views and ski-in/ski-out access to Whistler Creek. Most of the high-end homes here are in excess of 5,000 sq ft, and there are number of building lots still available, enabling you to build your dream home. One of the most exclusive features of Kadenwood is that it is served by its own private gondola!

One of Whistler’s smallest neighbourhoods, Nesters offers a convenient location close to Whistler Village as well as its own shopping complex containing Nester’s Market, a popular supermarket with the locals.  In terms of housing, there is a mix of older homes on Nesters Road and newer high-end homes on Treetop Lane.

Nordic Estates

With two entrances off Highway 99, Nordic Estates is one of Whistler’s largest neighborhoods. It offers unparalleled diversity with new and old condos, townhouses, and multi-million dollar luxury homes.  Nordic is also one of the few neighborhoods, alongside Blackcomb Benchlands and Kadenwood, to offer homes with ski-in/ski-out access. All of these homes are located on the Dave Murray Downhill, site of the 2010 Winter Olympic downhill event.  Located next to Whistler Creekside, approximately four kilometers from Whistler Village, Nordic is well serviced by local transit as well as being conveniently located near the Valley Trail across from Alta Lake.  The Rim Rock Café, one of Whistler’s best restaurants is hidden away in Nordic.

Pinecrest / Black Tusk

Located approximately 15 minutes South of Whistler Creek, the two private gated communities of Pinecrest and Black Tusk offer one of the most economical ways to buy a single family home close to Whistler. These well-established neighbourhoods consist of both permanent residents and recreations owners, and they benefit from swimming lakes, numerous trails and proximity to the Callaghan Valley nordic trails.

Rainbow / Baxter Creek

One of Whistler’s newest neighbourhoods and located north of Whistler Village, between the established subdivisions of Alpine and Emerald Estates, Rainbow has been designed to be a safe, family friendly and walkable neighborhood. Homes in Rainbow enjoy a beautiful alpine setting with views of Green Lake and local mountains. With interconnecting pathways, bike trails and designated parks, Rainbow has been planned to integrate community amenities with the environment.  All residents will be within a five-minute walk of local shopping and services including a grocery store, local pub, café and retail outlets. 

Located above Rainbow, Baxter Creek is a brand new development offering all day sunshine and spectacular south westerly views across Green Lake to Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains and Whistler Village.  Homes being built here are a mixture of custom built single family homes and large townhouses  in Red Sky.  All owners will benefit from the use of the amenity building featuring an outdoor pool and hot tub.

Spring Creek

Spring Creek is located just a few minutes’ drive south of Whistler Creek.  It is one of Whistler’s newest neighbourhoods and is the location of the Spring Creek elementary school.  This, along with the playing field and playground, make it a popular choice for families.  Homes high-end townhomes at The Glades and stunning new chalets on Tynbridge Way and Khyber Lane, many of which have employed cutting edge architecture and design features.

Spruce Grove

This is a family oriented neighbourhood in a very convenient location for access to Whistler Village and Lost Lake.  It is a great spot for recreation activities as it is located adjacent to Spruce Grove Park, which offers a playground, soccer fields and baseball diamonds. The Lost Lake trail system can be accessed directly from Spruce Grove Park – great for biking, cross country skiing and those summer days on Lost Lake beach.

Lots in Spruce Grove tend towards the smaller side which creates a neighbourhood where the houses are closer together but with a real community feel.

Westside is used to describe the homes along Alta Lake Road which tracks around to the West of Alpha, Nita and Alta lakes, connecting Whistler Creek to Alpine Meadows.  The majority of the homes in this area have spectacular views across the Valley towards Whistler Mountain, and many benefit from private docks giving direct access to Alta Lake (the warmest of Whistler’s lakes and a perfect spot for .  Nita Lake Estates boasts spectacular new homes on acre plus lots, but only a short walk from the Creekside Gondola. Stonebridge offers some of the largest estate lots in Whistler, ranging from 1 to 20 acres - the spectacular homes being built here benefit from privacy, tranquility and great views.

Whistler Cay Heights

Considered the most central neighborhood in Whistler, Whistler Cay Heights lies directly across the highway from the village within short walking distance.  The convenience of the location can result in higher home prices.  However, there are more affordable options in the townhome complexes which include Woodridge, Eagleridge, Sunrise and Smoketree.  The local elementary school and community sports fields are also located nearby, making the area ideal for families.  Whistler Cay Heights also offers residents easy access to lakes, parks, and golf via the Valley Trail, which is ideal for biking, rollerblading, or relaxing strolls.

Whistler Creek (Creekside)

Whistler Creek was the original town site before the development of Whistler Village.  Creekside Gondola offers the first access point to Whistler Mountain.  Creekside has undergone significant development in the last few years and now offers a convenient selection of shops and restaurants, Whistler’s only gas station and the famous Dusty’s for lively apres ski.  Whistler’s only waterfront hotel, the luxurious Nita Lake Lodge, is also located in Creekside.

From Whistler Creek, there are multiple access points to the Valley Trail system which leads you to the many parks, lakes, mountain bike trails and golf courses in the area. A variety of housing options are found here. A mixture of original rustic cabins rest alongside the more luxurious chalets of today. Single family homes, duplexes, townhomes, timeshares and employee housing units are all available, some with ski-in/ski-out access.

Whistler Village

Whistler Village is the heart of Whistler and the place to go for great shopping, worldclass restaurants and lively nightlife. It is hard to imagine that until the late 1970s that this was the site of the original town’s garbage dump!  Whistler Village properties cater to the short-term visitor and thus most have restrictive use covenants to ensure there are homes available for tourists to rent. For example, of the 7,700 Village-area properties, only 42 are detached residences, with the remainder made up of condos and townhomes.

Driving is not permitted within the pedestrian Village and although the surrounding area is accessible by car, all amenities are within walking distance. There is pay parking available and a free shuttle service, but the best way to explore Whistler Village is on foot.

White Gold

White Gold offers an extremely convenient location, being situated close to Whistler Village, the Upper Village and Lost Lake.  This makes White Gold a fabulous year round location.  The area offers mostly flat lots, some of which back onto Fitzsimmons Creek.  The homes are a real mix of older structures alongside new builds – there is great potential here to build your dream home.
